Do You Have Interest In Being A Temple Worker?

"Hundreds of thousands of faithful members participate in the unselfish service we call 'temple work,' which has no motive other than love and service for our fellowmen, living and dead."

—Elder Dallin H. Oaks

Introduction

Perhaps you've had spiritual experiences while serving in the temple--either occasionally or frequently--and would like to serve in the temple on a more regular basis as a temple worker.  For many, becoming a temple worker is the next logical progression of their temple service.

Sister Danielle B. Wagner wrote an inspiring article entitled "Insights from a Temple Worker (+ What It's Like to Work Behind the Scenes)" that may peak your interest as you consider whether to serve in the temple.

Initials Steps To Take For Becoming a Temple Worker

As described in Section 25.5 of the Church Handbook, either your Bishop or leaders at the temple in your temple district may initiate the recommend process for you to become a temple worker.

  1. You can approach your Bishop to express an interest in becoming a temple worker.
  2. Since the Holladay North Stake is in the Jordan River Temple District, you may also check with the Recorder's Office while serving at the temple to inquire about their need for temple workers and about the availability of temple shifts which interest you.
  3. Also, you may call the Jordan River at 801-254-3003 and ask for the Recorder's Office.  You can then inquire about their need for temple workers and about the availability of temple shifts which interest you.

Section 25.5 of the Church Handbook also describes what qualifications are needed for those who serve in the temple and how they are set apart in their calling.

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

—Malachi 4:5–6
